Wow, I can’t find this word! How do I search for it?

Have you ever gone to a Search Engine to search for a specific word and then end up at a webpage full of words?  Well, in this blog you will learn how to find that word easily in just a few easy short steps!

How about we say you were looking to research some of the crazy laws in Blythe, California.

You start by doing a search using a search engine you prefer (I will be using Google): 

 

Say you click on the first website and its huge, it list crazy laws from every state and all you wanted to see what crazy laws were in Blythe, California.   Well this next step is how to search a webpage for a specific word or phrase.

Step 1: Go to the Firefox drop down menu and select “Find” from the list.

Step 2: Type what you are looking for in the “Find” box and then click “Next”.

Step 3: It should take you to the exact place in the webpage where the word you typed appears:

Technology tip:

I want this mess to go away!  Time to make some folders!

Ever get so frustrated with all the disorganization on your computer?!?!?  Do you ever want to delete everything just to start over but you can’t?  If you are looking for a way to organize that mess of yours, here is a tip:

The key to organizing things are called folders.  The first step you would have to take is to choose a place where you want to make your folder!  You could make it in “My pictures” or “My documents”.

In this example I will be making a new folder in my C: drive.

• First click the “New Folder” tab at the top, then it should automatically make you one.

• Once the new folder appears you will have to rename it by typing in the new name of the folder.  (If the computer will not let rename the folder, right click on the folder and select “Rename” from the list that appears.)
• Finally, it is time to move items into your new folder! It is simple; all you have to do is drag and drop them over. 

Now you are organized!!

Keeping your children safe online!

Adults today have the responsibility to help children learn and understand the world. Today, the internet is one of the biggest resources where children learn. The internet is full of great information but also many negative outcomes. You need to make your child aware of the good and the bad, so they can navigate it safely.

Some of the pros we can receive from the internet:

• Great communication from email, internet phones and video (Skype, OoVoO)
• Data storage and sharing knowledge all across the world.
• Networking ideas and knowledge without boundaries.

Some of the cons we can receive from the internet:

• Internet Crime (Online scams or fraud)
• Cyber-bullying
• Exploitation of children and child predators

How do you want to keep your children safe from all of this? Below I have listed some websites that can help you learn!

This site provides and explains signs that your child might be at risk online, from fraud to even signs of your child looking at porn sites.  It also tells you how to handle each situation as a parent.

This website is a good website that helps explain all the dangers out there online for children.

If you want to keep learning more, there are plenty of websites out there to help just try searching for “Internet Threats”. Each and everyday there are more and more out there so you have to keep up!
