Technology Tip: Top 5 feed readers for Android

Technology Tip:

Top 5 feed readers for Android

Many people love reading articles from their favorite websites, did you know you can read them all in just one place on your phone?  Below listed are the top 5 feed readers for the Android.

Feedly

Many people suggest feedly because it is simple and fast.  It is said to work pretty well when the internet connection is slow.  There is no heavy design, just content.  Feedly also lets you share the content via Twitter and Facebook.

Google Reader

Google Reader is a web-based reader for RSS and Atom news feeds.  You can group and read your subscriptions using free labels.  Google Reader lets you tag, sort and organize individual items using labels. You can easily share items on a public web page that has an RSS feed itself, send them by email, or use tags for blogrolls.  A blog and news search engine makes it easy to find and subscribe to feeds.

Google Currents

Not many people know about Google Currents. This launched last December.  The magazine layout is quite clean and makes it easy to read the content. It also lets you download the content for offline reading. You can even customize your news feed by adding and removing editions; you can even go so far as to remove pre-loaded feeds. It's like creating your own personal 'newspaper'. The only downfall is that it is quite heavy and takes a lot of data.

Pulse

Pulse is very similar to Google currents but a bit faster and more responsive, and has the ability to explore more sources for content in your area of interest.  You are able to share content via Facebook and Twitter. They also have a Pulse.me feature which lets you save content to personal account.

Flipboard

As hit app on iPhone it was recently made available to Android. Flipboard brings together all your interests into an easy-to-read format. The interface is very clean and intuitive, and the ease with which you view content is made simpler still by the ability to select a full-screen mode and change the text size in the settings menu. The Search function is extremely easy to use. More importantly the speed of the app is fast.
